Namchi, 6 Sept : AYUSH Geriatric Health Camp was organized by the AYUSH Division of Namchi, under the banner of National AYUSH Mission, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, at various Health and Wellness Centers under Namchi District from August 19, 2024, to September 5, 2024.
The program began with the plantation of a tree with the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" by the hon'ble area panchayats.
Dr Neelima Thatal, Senior Medical Officer (AYUSH), threw light on AYUSH and Anemia. September being the month of Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month), she stressed the importance of nutrition, local food and diet in the context of health, healthy aging and longevity. She also demonstrated few yoga asanas, to inculcate in daily life for overall well being and quality of life.
The green leafy and iron-rich vegetables were displayed for the participants, to encourage healthy eating of locally available foods. Followed by basic assessment including testing of blood sugar levels,Blood pressure and hemoglobin.
After completing preliminary assessments, Homoeopathy Doctor perform thorough check-ups preceded by medications based on primary complaints. She also counseled on dental hygiene and the importance of regular eye check-up. The prescribed medications were dispensed by the homoeopathy pharmacist. Lastly, Kadha and Chyawanprash were distributed to the participants according to their needs.
