Teachers Day celebration at Sikkim Professional Institute of Nursing (SPION), under SPU Budang Campus
The B.Sc. Nursing and GNM students of Sikkim Professional Institute of Nursing celebrated the auspicious occasion of Teachers Day on 05.09.2024 in a grand manner. The occasion was graced by Prof. H.S. Yadav, Hon’ble VC, Sikkim Professional University (SPU), along with Prof. Jaswant Sokhi, PVC, SPU; Ms Nisha Soren, Principal I/c, SPION; Ms Leena Nag, Vice Principal, SPION; faculty members, staff and students. The programme was started by lamp lighting in front of the photograph of Dr S. Radhakrishnan, and cake cutting ceremony. This was followed by a speech by Hon’ble VC Sir, Prof. H.S. Yadav. Hon’ble VC Sir, detailed the history, significance and relevance of Teachers Day. The notable contribution in the field of Education by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan as Professor of Philosphy at Oxford University, as Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, as well as in Banaras Hindu University and as the 2nd President of India was loudly appreciated with his wonderful theme on comparative studies on Indian Art, Culture and tradition with Europian culture. His thought process focussed on the Education using Science and religion was centred on search of truth and welfare of mankind where education can play a vital role through teachers. Dr. Radhakrishnan had suggested his students that instead of celebrating his personal birthday, celebrate 5th September as Teachers day, who are the real transformer of society during 1962 and since then , we celebrate it.Thereafter, Prof. Jaswant Sokhi, PVC, SPU highlighted the theme of Teachers Day 2024, i.e., “Empowering educators for a sustainable future". Prof. Jaswant Sokhi encouraged students to write an essay on this theme. Ms Nisha Soren, Principal, SPION also dwelled on the importance of Teachers day. The celebrations included dancing, singing and some games for the teachers as well, in a joyous backdrop.
The programme was concluded with a Vote of thanks by Ms Anjali Kami, 3rd year GNM student of SPION Budang.
