7th Rashtriya POSHAN MAAH
Mangan, 6 September: In line with the observance of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, Women and Child Development Department organised a programme on 'Poshan Maah' at Naga, today.
The month of September is designated as National Nutrition Month also known as Rashtriya Poshan Maah with the goal to combat under-nutrition among children below six years of age, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
The 7th phase of Poshan Maah will focus on themes such as anaemia prevention, growth monitoring, effective service delivery through good governance and technology, "Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan," and supplementary nutrition.
The objective of today’s programme is to create awareness relating to malnutrition among pregnant women and lactating mothers. To reduce the incidence of anaemia among young children, adolescent girls and women and to promote the consumption of millets, coarse cereals and unpolished rice.
The programme also had the presence of Ms Sonam Lhaden Lachungpa, Deputy Director-cum-CDPO ICDS, Mr Sonam Namgyal Bhutia, Nutrition Inspector, Mr Thupden Bhutia, Supervisor Chungthang, Mr Tshering Lhendup Lepcha, DOPMMVY, Mr Roshan Limboo, Social Welfare Inspector, and Anganwadi Workers.
It also witnessed participation from women and children of the village and surrounding areas.
