On 21st October 2024, Policy distribution drive under “Mero Policy Mero Haath” PMFBY ,Kharif season, was organized by Agriculture department ,Gangtok District in coordination with Future Generali at DAC Conference Hall , Gangtok District .
The Program was chaired by ADC (headquarters), Gangtok District Shri Tshering Norgyal Theengh , Assistant Collector Shri Sandeep Kumar ,IAS. The Event saw the participation from key stakeholders Joint Director, Shri Yogesh Sharma, Deputy Director, Ms Susmita Lama Tamang, State Coordinator (Future Generali) Shri Kailash Subba, District Manager ,Shri Phurba Sherpa along with ADOs and AIs and Farmers of Gangtok District.
Shri Yogesh Sharma,JDA, addressed the gathering on Crop Insurance -PMFBY(Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) and its importance for the farming community and he also emphasized on benefits which includes providing financial support to the farmers in the event of crop loss due to Natural calamities.
State coordinator(Future Generali) Shri Kailash Subba briefed the gathering about the process of registration for Fasal Bima, claim procedure and also TOLL FREE number (14447) as an additional form of claiming process.
Assistant Collector, Shri Sandeep Kumar suggested to set a target for crop insurance and to increase the enrollment.
ADC(HQ), suggested that the process of registration of Fasal Bima and claims in the event of crop failure should be made farmer friendly as not all farmers are tech savvy.
As a highlight of the program, Crop Insurance Policies were distributed to farmers from Gangtok District.
The Program ended with Vote of thanks from Nasreen Thapa, Agriculture Inspector, Agriculture Department.
