The Hon’ble Speaker and the President of CPA Sikkim Branch Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa and Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, attended the opening ceremony of 40th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Small Branches Conference in Room No. C4.4 at
International Convention & Exhibition Centre (ICC), Sydney, Australia on 4th November, 2024.
The Conference was followed by the election of the Chairperson of CPA Small Branches, where (three) candidates contested and election was held through secret ballot. The branch delegates of
CPA Small Branches network listed in the electoral roll have exercised their voting right.
The Hon’ble Speaker and Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly also
participated in the voting process from the India Region.
The Returning Officer, after the completion of the election and counting announced that Hon.
V aleria Woods, Speaker of the House of Representative of Belize declared elected to be the next Chairperson of the CPA Small Branches.

Thereafter, the conference was followed by the workshop on the topic: Strengthening Parliaments through Twinning and Accelerating Digital Innovation for Resilience and Growth in Small
Jurisdictions.
Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly shall continue to be the member of the Steering Committee of the CPA Small Branches representing the India Region.
