Department of IT Namchi organises Cyber Security Awareness Programme

The Cyber Security Awareness Programme was organized by the Department of Information Technology, marking as the significant part of the celebrations commemorating 50 years of Statehood that was held at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre (DAC) in Namchi, today.
Present during the programme were, Ms Trisang Tamang ADC (Namchi), Mr Ashim Tamang Joint Director (IT), Mr Nirmal Rai AD IT as resource person, Ms Ranjana Rai AD (IT) Namchi along with the government employees from various departments posted in Namchi headquarters.
The objective of the programme was to raise awareness on the significance of maintaining security standards in the digital world. The programme sensitized on identifying the dangers, potential threats, and practices to safeguard data and devices against cyberattacks.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Trisang Tamang emphasized the significance of information technology in today's era. She urged everyone to remain vigilant against emerging cyber scams and encouraged participants to fully utilize such sensitization programmes led by the experts, citing their pivotal role in maintaining and operating government e-service initiatives. Additionally, she advocated for spreading awareness about cyber-related concerns to enhance public outreach and create a positive impact.
Resource person Mr Nirmal Rai gave power point presentation on the basics of Cyber Security, best practices for Online Safety, Data Protection and Privacy, including methods to secure sensitive data.
During the programme, IT officials addressed queries related to various types of online crimes orchestrated by organized scammers, providing insights and guidance to tackle such issues effectively.
