A workshop was conducted in DAC on good governance practices/initiatives taken up by DAC Gangtok.
In his welcome address, ADM, Gangtok, Shri Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, SCS, elaborated on key principles of good governance and its necessity for development of our society and state. He mentioned various good initiatives like launch of AMIN App for transparency in land revenue management, launch of Aadhar enrolment centres in DAC and all the BACs and launch of online marriage registration portal for ease of service delivery to the citizens, Lactation rooms in the form of Motherpod at various locations to help working mothers, launch of Citizen Charter to promote transparency and accountability in government services — under the leadership of the District Collector, Gangtok — to illustrate commitment of DAC gangtok towards good governance.
SDM HQ, Gangtok, Shri G L Meena, IAS, elaborated further on these initiatives and how they were implemented. He also briefed the participants about the visible impact these initiatives are already having in Gangtok district.
Assistant Collector, Gangtok, Shri Sandeep Kumar, IAS, further elaborated on these initiatives Citizen Charter and how it helps in empowering the citizens. He mentioned AAA principles of good governance, i.e., it has to be Accessible, Affordable and Available.
During his address, District Collector cum Magistrate, Gangtok, Shri Tushar G. Nikhare, IAS, expressed satisfaction with the initiatives and mentioned various other good initiatives in the pipeline- like Token Management System, Dhara Vikas project etc. He highlighted the importance of good governance in public service given that it is directly linked to public trust. He lauded the entire DAC staff for successfully executing the various initiatives.
