Soreng, January 10:
Under the vision of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) to make "Addiction free Sikkim and mentally healthy Sikkim" and under the guidance of Shri. Aditya Golay Area MLA Soreng Chakung Constituency first batch of students training under Soreng District on the module of SARATHI 1.0 was completed on 10th January 2025. Total 28 students (2 boys, 2 girls) from following Senior Secondary Schools under Soreng District.
The participating schools included:
1.Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School, Daramdin
2.Government Senior Secondary School, Sombaria
3.Nima Sherpa Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ribdi
4.Government Senior Secondary School, Tharpu
5.Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop
6.Government Senior Secondary School, Soreng
7.Government Senior Secondary School, Kaluk
The training program aimed at enhancing awareness and providing essential skills for addressing addiction and promoting mental well-being among Students.
The event saw a significant presence of dignitaries, with Shri Rohit Raj Gurung, Hon'ble Advisor to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim and Chief Resource Person SARATHI 1.0. Shri Gayas Pega, ADC Development for Soreng, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Other distinguished guests included:
• Mr. P.K. Subba, SDM HQ Soreng
• Mr. Santa Gurung, SHO Soreng
• Mr. L.D. Sharma, CEO Education
• Mrs. Yamuna Dhungal, Mental Health Counselor
• Mr. R.K. Panday, Principal of Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School, Daramdin
The final day of the training program was marked by an engaging and vibrant session where the students whole heartedly participated in following capacity, Master of Ceremony by Miss Choden Sherpa (Government Senior Secondary School, Sombaria) and Master Sandeep Chettri (Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop), the offering of Khadas to the Guests by Miss Kavya Chettri (Govt Senior Secondary School Bariakhop) and Miss Deepmala Kumari (Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School Daramdin), Welcome Speech by Master Anmol Sharma (Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School Daramdin) and Miss Yuma Hangma Subba ( Govt. Senior Senior School Tharpu), Welcome Dance by Miss Kavya Chettri (Govt Senior Secondary School Bariakhop), Song by Master Prayas Pradhan ( Govt. Senior Senior School Sombaria), Song by Master Amir Gurung (Govt Senior Secondary School Bariakhop), Song by Master Sajit Gurung (Govt Senior Secondary School Kaluk), Power Point Presentation by Miss Mechan Tamang (Govt Senior Secondary School Bariakhop) & Miss Samjana Limboo (Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School, Daramdin) and Skit Presentation done by the Students on various topic.
Experience-sharing sessions were also conducted by Sameer Rai and Tila Rupa Chettri, SARATHI Coordinators for Soreng District, providing valuable insights into the program.
Additionally contributions came from the ASHA workers of Soreng CHC Mrs. Maya Rana and Sombaria PHC Mrs. Goma Sharma, who shared their experiences in promoting mental health and addiction-free initiatives.
The successful completion of this training is a significant step toward the broader goal of creating a healthier, addiction-free Sikkim, and fostering mental well-being in the regions.
