BAC, Passingdang Celebrates Block-Level International Women’s Day
Passingdang, Dzongu: The Block Administrative Centre, Passingdang, celebrated Block-Level International Women’s Day today under the aegis of Sikkim INSPIRES, Planning and Development Department, Government of Sikkim at the Conference Hall, BAC, Passingdang.
The event was graced by Smt. Sonam Kipa Bhutia, Up-Adhakshya, Mangan District, as the Chief Guest, with Smt. Chungkipu Lepcha, former Chairperson, Women Protection Board, and Smt. Jay Jay Lepcha, Headmistress, Lingthem JHS, as Guests of Honour. The program also had the presence of Block Development Officer Dr. Mahendra Tamang, Honourable Panchayats from all seven GPUs of Dzongu, AE, Deputy Director cum CDPO, BaLAC, Passingdang, Brancha Manager, State Bank of Sikkim, ASHA workers, SHGs, officials, and staff from the BAC Passingdang, SDM Office, Dzongu and SRLM members.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and cake-cutting ceremony by the invited dignitaries and panchayats. A series of competitions were held, focusing on Creative Writing, Performing Arts, and Creative Arts & Crafts, with active participation from women representatives across Dzongu. Winners were selected for the District Level by the invited dignitaries.
As a mark of recognition, BAC, Passingdang, felicitated accomplished local women for their contributions in various fields. Smt. Sonam Kipa Bhutia, Smt. Chungkipu Lepcha, Smt. Jay Jay Lepcha, and Reenamit Lepcha (PET, Mangan Girls SSS) were honored with Appreciation Letters for their outstanding service.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Reinventing Motherhood: Reconnecting Our Mothers Back to Their Childhood Hobbies and Interests,” was celebrated through engaging activities, including Yoga, Zumba, Blind Hitting, Book Balancing Race, Musical Chairs, and Ball Passing. Winners in the main categories were awarded mementos and certificates, while participants in games and sports received gifts and certificates.
To add further value to the event, informative sessions on Women’s Mental Health, Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques, POCSO Act 2012, and the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 were delivered by resource persons from the Women and Child Development Department.
The event was engaging, productive, and filled with activities that celebrated and empowered women, making it a truly meaningful occasion. Mr. Poth Lepcha, VAA, BAC-Passingdang hosted the whole day programme.
