Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Mr. Om Prakash Mathur offered special prayers at Pemayangtse Math and Chirinje Math located in Sangcholing on the auspicious occasion of Losar during his second day visit to Gazing District. He prayed for longevity, longevity and peace of the people of Sikkim during this time. The Governor also met the Lamas and locals of the monastery and gained information about the history and local traditions of Pemayangtse monastery.
During his visit, the Hon'ble Governor also visited two camps of the 36th Vahini and 72nd Vahini Armed Border Force. They met the soldiers and encouraged them. The Governor appreciated his dedication and hard work in security of the border area. SSB DIG, Shiv Dayal Singh, 36th Vahini Commandant, Ajit Kumar, 72nd Vahini Commandant, Jai Prakash, and other officers and soldiers were present on this occasion.
Also, they visited Khichiperi Lake, recognized as the first Ramsar site in Sikkim on February 22, 2025. During this time, the Hon'ble Governor was presented with local people-made items from the District Administration Center, Gezing.
In addition, Hon'ble Governor also visited Kanchanjanga waterfall and admired the natural beauty of this place.
In the same link, he highlighted the immense possibilities in the tourism sector in the Gazing district and instructed officials to expand the facilities of the district's tourist destinations to increase the number of tourists, increase local people's income sources and make their lives smoother.
