Hon'ble Advisor Shri Sanjeet Kharel Chairs Crucial Coordination and Revenue Meeting in Mangan District
Mangan, Sikkim, March 24, 2025: A significant Coordination cum Revenue Meeting was held today at the Mangan district Circle under the guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri PS Golay. The meeting was chaired by Hon'ble Advisor Shri Sanjeet Kharel, accompanied by Secretary (Revenue), Power Department, Principal Chief Engineer (Revenue), Power Department, Shri TT Bhutia, and key officials from the Power Department.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Shri Bikash Deokota, Secretary of the Power Department (Revenue), Shri TT Bhutia, Principal Chief Engineer cum Nodal Officer, CE of Mangan Circle, Additional Chief Engineer, and other concerned officials from the department.
Shri TT Bhutia, Principal Chief Engineer (Revenue), began the meeting with a detailed presentation on the revenue and energy consumption of the Mangan Circle, offering valuable insights into the current status of both. Shri Bikash Deokota, Secretary (Revenue), also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of effective revenue realization in sustaining the state’s financial health. He noted that the installation of smart meters is imminent, which will significantly improve energy management, streamline revenue collection, reduce revenue leakages, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the system.
Hon'ble Advisor Shri Sanjeet Kharel emphasized the pivotal role that revenue collection plays in the state’s development and progress. He stressed that generating and managing revenue is fundamental not only to maintaining and upgrading the state's infrastructure but also to supporting ongoing and future development projects. Shri Kharel reiterated that a consistent and robust revenue stream ensures the uninterrupted supply of power to every household and supports the vision of a prosperous and self-sustaining Sikkim.
In his address, Hon'ble Advisor Shri Kharel informed that 100 units of electricity are free for every domestic household in Sikkim. He requested all officials and employees of the department to make people aware of this initiative and revenue collection. He also urged all officials to engage with local communities to educate them on the revenue collection process and address any concerns.
Shri Kharel extended his heartfelt appreciation to all officers from A to D grade for their dedication and hard work in ensuring that power continues to reach every corner of Sikkim while assisting in the revenue collection efforts. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in offices, office toilets, and premises.
Regarding the Mangan district Circle, Hon'ble Advisor Shri Kharel specifically instructed the team to work diligently towards realizing revenue. He stressed the need for enhanced efforts and efficiency to improve revenue generation in this region.
Hon'ble Advisor Shri Kharel also expressed strong support for the vision of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri PS Golay, particularly the BIPASA vision for "Sunawlo and Samriddhi Sikkim." This vision aims to make Sikkim a model of self-reliance, growth, and prosperity, driven by efficient systems and the active participation of every Sikkimese citizen ¹.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening the revenue collection process, improving community awareness, and ensuring a stable, uninterrupted power supply for all residents of Sikkim.
