SCERT conducts Block Level Orientation of Pilot School Teachers on the Use of Holistic Progress Card.
Gyalshing,March 27:The Assessment Cell of SCERT Sikkim in coordination with District Education Offices, District Institute of Education and Training (Gangtok, Namchi, & Gyalshing) and Block Education Offices successfully organized Block Level Orientation of Pilot School Teachers on the Use of Holistic progress Card from 19th to 26th March’ 2025.
Holistic Progress Card is a 360 degree, multidimensional report of progress, that reflects in detail the progress as well as the uniqueness of each learner in the cognitive, affective, socio-emotional, and psychomotor domains. A shift in assessment from one that is summative, primarily testing rote memorization skills to one that is more regular and formative - competency-based. It promotes learning and development for children, and evaluating higher-order skills, such as analysis, critical thinking, and conceptual clarity.
The Assessment Cell of SCERT with an academic support of Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, has contextualized the HPC developed by PARAKH – NCERT. The modifications in HPC to the context of Sikkim has been done for Foundational, Preparatory and Middle Stages of School Education and are now implemented as piloting in six different Blocks across six Districts of Sikkim.
The sampled Blocks are Nandok, Namcheybong, Namchi, Mangan, Chongrang and Kaluk covering 85 schools across the State.
The First Phase of Orientation were held in Mangan Girls SSS, BAC Chongrang and Rinchenpong SS under Mangan, Chongrang and Kaluk Blocks respectively from 19th to 21st March’ 2025. A total of 174 teachers teaching at Foundational, Preparatory and Middle Stages were given orientation on the use of HPC during the first phase.
Similarly, the Second Phase of Orientation were held in Namchi Boys SSS, Ahopul Kishan SS and SCERT Gangtok under Namchi, Namcheybong and Nandok Blocks respectively from 24th to 26th March’ 2025 where it provided orientation to 228 teachers, thus making a total number of teachers as 402 across the State.
Ms Dikila Lepcha, Ms.) Pema Palden Bhutia, Dr Chandrani Chettri, Ms.) Roshni Sharma and Ms Lensong Lepcha, Assistant Professors cum the Members of Assessment Cell successfully coordinated the event in six different venues.
The Inaugural and Valedictory programme in all the venues had the presence of Officials from Education Department, Venue Directors from Block Education Offices, Faculty from Azim Premji University, Members of Assessment Cell comprising of SCERT and DIET Faculty, Teacher Participants and others associated in conduct of the programme.
The programme ended with distribution of certificates to teacher participants.
The overall Orientation Programme was coordinated by Mr Kuldip Sharma, Coordinator, Assessment Cell, SCERT Sikkim.
