Friday Field/Farm Day Mission Revival of Barren Land for Cultivation: Episode – 31
Pakyong, March 29: The Additional District Collector Dev Office, Pakyong District, announces the remarkable success of the Friday Field/Farm Day Mission Revival of Barren Land for Cultivation. This initiative has not only transformed barren lands into fertile agricultural fields but has also enhanced the Own Source Revenue of all the Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) under Pakyong District.
Key Achievements:
Transformation of Barren Lands: The mission has successfully converted barren lands across all 28 GPUs into fertile fields, ready for maize cultivation and other crops.
Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: The programme has promoted sustainable agriculture practices, providing farmers and agricultural workers with hands-on experience in cultivating various crops and vegetables.
Increased Agricultural Output:
The initiative has led to a significant increase in agricultural output, with farmers harvesting a variety of crops, including potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and other leafy vegetables.
Enhanced Own Source Revenue:
The success of the mission has enhanced the Own Source Revenue of all the GPUs under Pakyong District, empowering them to become self-sufficient and sustainable.
Success Stories:
The mission has inspired many success stories, including the transformation of a barren land in Sikkim into a lush green farm, producing a variety of crops and vegetables. Similarly, the employees of all the government offices and the women and young generations are coming up with a mission.
Sikkim turned a barren land into a sustainable farm, growing varieties of food crops and numerous saplings of all species of flowers, fruits, and timber also.
Now, we are sure this initiative will definitely improve the livelihoods of farmers and agricultural practices will be resumed.
