Yangang to Host International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development
Yangang, South Sikkim | April 1, 2025 – As Sikkim marks 50 years of statehood, the picturesque town of Yangang is set to host the International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development from April 12th to 14th, 2025. This landmark event will bring together youth leaders, tourism experts, and global delegates to explore the future of tourism development and its role in shaping the region’s growth.
Government bodies, key stakeholders, and the Yangang Tourism Development Committee (Y.T.D.C.) are preparing to welcome participants from across India and beyond. Beautification efforts have already begun under the guidance of Yangang Constituency MLA & Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa and Y.T.D.C., enhancing Yangang’s appeal as a promising tourism destination.
Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa emphasized the significance of this conclave in positioning Yangang as a key player in Sikkim’s tourism landscape. "Yangang is emerging as a major destination, and this conclave is a step toward unlocking its full potential. With sustainable tourism at the heart of our efforts, we are committed to creating an ecosystem where local communities thrive alongside growing tourism opportunities."
The conclave will highlight Sikkim’s commitment to sustainable tourism and cultural preservation, showcasing its remarkable journey over the past five decades. Recent initiatives by Honourable Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang, such as the Dhapper to Bhaleydhunga Ropeway, the Skywalk development, and eco-tourism programs, have significantly contributed to the region’s growing appeal.
Under the central theme, “Celebrating Sikkim’s 50 Years of Statehood,” the conclave will provide an in-depth look into the state’s tourism evolution, opportunities, and challenges. It will also spotlight emerging destinations like Yangang, positioning them for future growth through targeted tourism infrastructure projects supported by the Ministry of Tourism. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, reaffirmed the government’s vision for sustainable tourism, stating: "Tourism has always been a priority for our government. To ensure sustainable development for our youth and region, it will continue to play a central role in our future plans. This aligns with our vision of Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samarth Sikkim."
Reflecting on Sikkim’s tourism journey, he added: "This conclave provides a valuable opportunity to showcase the immense potential of destinations like Yangang while exploring sustainable solutions that will drive tourism-led growth.
