An interactive session was successfully conducted with farmers and key stakeholders to address the rising challenges of man-animal conflict in the region, on 9th April 2025.
The session was graced by the Hon’ble MLA cum Deputy speaker SLA Smt Raj Kumari Thapa.
The meeting involved an in-depth discussion on various pressing issues faced by the farming community, particularly crop damage caused by wild animals. Farmers expressed their concerns and shared their lived experiences, highlighting the need for immediate and sustainable solutions.
In response, departmental officers elaborated on available and upcoming initiatives, including crop insurance schemes, community fencing projects, and awareness campaigns. Additionally, the discussion covered the potential for Production-Linked Incentive (PLI)-like programs to boost farm resilience and encourage innovation in crop management practices.
Hon’ble MLA assured farmers of proactive support and emphasized the government’s commitment to mitigating conflict through policy support, technological intervention, and better coordination between departments.
The session concluded with a one-on-one interaction between farmers and officers, where individual queries were addressed, and possible solutions were discussed. A follow-up mechanism will be developed to track progress and ensure timely implementation of suggested measures.
