CM Shri Prem Singh Tamang Inaugurates SC Bhawan, Reinforces Cultural and Community Rights
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri. Prem Singh Tamang Golay, has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to conserving both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of all communities in Sikkim. Under his leadership, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Government has taken historic strides in not only preserving traditions and identities but also in securing the rights and welfare of every community across the state.
Since the advent of the SKM Government in 2019, Sikkim has witnessed a cultural renaissance. Communities of Sikkim are now rising together, with renewed pride in their heritage and traditions. This revival has been possible due to the inclusive and visionary approach of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who has always stressed the importance of cultural identity and unity in diversity.
On the occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated the Scheduled Caste (SC) Bhawan at Development Area, Gangtok. This Bhawan stands not only as a symbolic representation of the Scheduled Caste community but also as a testament to the respect and acknowledgment that the Hon’ble Chief Minister extends to their contribution in the growth and development of Sikkim. In his address, he emphasized that although the Bhawan bears the name of the SC community, it belongs to every community in Sikkim, underlining the unity and inclusivity he envisions.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister has continuously reiterated that justice and welfare must reach all communities in a holistic manner. Under the SKM Government, all communities have been equally empowered and their rights safeguarded. His governance has ensured that no community is left behind.
A significant achievement of the SKM Government has been the completion and operationalization of several community Bhawans that were previously left incomplete due to a lack of funding under the past administration. Post-2019, the SKM Government sanctioned necessary funds, resulting in the successful construction of these important cultural and community hubs. Bhawans for various communities stand as proud markers of cultural respect and recognition.
Moreover, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has consistently highlighted the vital role of community-based organizations in strengthening social cohesion. By empowering such organizations, the government ensures that cultural preservation is a collective and sustainable effort.
In essence, the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay is setting a strong foundation for a culturally rich, inclusive, and united Sikkim. His unwavering respect for the traditions and identities of every community continues to inspire a shared sense of pride and belonging across the state.
