Platinum Jubilee Celebrated with Spirit and Speed: Half Marathon Marks 75 Glorious Years of Lingchom Sr. Sec. School
Geyzing, 15 April 25–
Lingchom Senior Secondary School marked a major milestone in its proud history with a Platinum Jubilee celebration that reflected both tradition and progress. As part of the 75th anniversary festivities, the school organized a Half Marathon that brought together students, alumni, teachers, and residents in a powerful display of unity, endurance, and community spirit.
The event was flagged off early in the morning from the school premises, with over 49 enthusiastic participants braving the morning chill to cover the challenging route through the picturesque landscape of Lingchom. The marathon aimed to promote fitness, environmental awareness, and a sense of collective achievement.
The first prize went to Nimsang Limboo (Darap), second to Ganga Hang Subba (Utterey) and third to Mon Bahadur Chettri (Arigaon), respectively. The winners were felicitated with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 5,000, respectively. The trophies were generously sponsored by Mr. Thandup Bhutia, President Sarvodaya Samaj,Lingchom whose support was warmly acknowledged by the organizers and participants alike.
Principal, Ms Yangden Shipmoo expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the Platinum Jubilee Half Marathon a memorable and meaningful event. “This school has been a beacon of knowledge and values for generations. As we step into the future, we do so with the strength of our heritage and the energy of our youth.”
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations will continue with football tournament, cultural programs, exhibitions, and literary sessions in the coming days, culminating in a grand finale that honors the past, celebrates the present, and envisions a dynamic future for Lingchom Sr. Sec. School.
