District-Level POSHAN Pakhwada Programme Held at Aspirational Block Chongrang
Gyalshing, April 19, 2025:
A district-level programme under the national campaign POSHAN Pakhwada was successfully organized at the Aspirational Block of Chongrang, Gyalshing District. The event witnessed active participation from key stakeholders including the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chongrang, the Deputy Director-cum-Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Panchayat President, Panchayat Inspector, and Anganwadi Workers from across the block.
Themed around critical components of maternal and child health, this year’s POSHAN Pakhwada focused on:
The First 1000 Days of Life
Popularisation of the Beneficiary Module
Management of Malnutrition through the Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) Module
Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle to Address Childhood Obesity
During the program, stakeholders emphasized the significance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life — from conception to two years of age — as a foundational period for cognitive development, immunity, and long-term health. Various sessions highlighted the use of the Beneficiary Module for improved service delivery under the POSHAN Tracker, ensuring accurate identification, monitoring, and follow-up of nutrition-related interventions.
The CMAM module was discussed in depth, promoting community-level engagement for identifying and managing malnourished children through local Anganwadi Centres. Health experts and field workers underlined the importance of a balanced diet, regular growth monitoring, and timely referrals to health facilities.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment from all attendees to strengthen the nutrition delivery system in the block and ensure the holistic development of mothers and children.
