Today, on 20 April 2025, Shri Amrit Mohan Prasad, Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), paid a dignified visit to the 72nd Battalion, Yuksom. On this occasion, he was accorded a traditional welcome with floral tributes by Shri Sudhir Kumar, Inspector General, Frontier Headquarters, Siliguri; Shri Manish Kumar, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarters, Gangtok; and Shri Jai Prakash, Commandant, 72nd Battalion, Yuksom.
The Director General was presented with a Guard of Honour by the battalion with full CAPF, decorum. Following this, he inspected the camp premises, participated in a tree plantation drive, and addressed a Sainik Sammelan (troop conference). During the conference, listened to the concerns of the personnel, both physically present and those from remote border outposts connected through hybrid mode. He provided necessary instructions and boosted the morale of the forces.
In addition, the Director General made a physical visit to the Nambu Border Outpost under the battalion’s jurisdiction. There, he interacted with the deployed personnel, inquired about their well-being, and appreciated their dedication and enthusiasm.
Parallelly, Smt. Shikha Prasad, President, SANDIKSHA, Force Headquarters, New Delhi, also visited the Battalion Headquarters. She was traditionally welcomed by Smt. Sumitra Raut, President, and Smt. Sarmistha Mukhopadhyay, Vice President, SANDIKSHA, 72nd Battalion. On this occasion, members of the battalion’s SANDIKSHA unit presented a cultural program, which was warmly appreciated by the Chief Guest.
This event truly embodied the motto of Sashastra Seema Bal — “Service, Security, Brotherhood” — and proved to be a significant morale booster for the troops and their families.
