The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, attended the State-Level Special Games 2025 for differently-abled persons, held at Khel Gaon, Reshithang today. The event was organized by the Special Olympics Bharat – Sikkim Chapter.
Officially marking the inauguration of the Special Games, the Hon'ble Governor lit up the ceremonial Olympic torch.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Mathur emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive society by ensuring equal opportunities and facilities for every section of the community. He stated that such events promote equality and inclusion, and serve as an inspiration in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. He appreciated the efforts of the organization and remarked that recognizing the achievements and dedication of persons with disabilities is instrumental in building a strong and inclusive nation.
During the programme, the Hon’ble Governor felicitated special Olympic medalist namely; Shri Manish Dhakal and Shri Nirmal Dahal who had brought laurels to the nation in different Special Olympic held in past.
The Hon'ble Governor has also announced financial aid of Rs 5 lakh to Special Olympics Bharat–Sikkim Chapter.
The event also featured a cultural programme with vibrant performances by persons with disabilities.
The programme was attended by the Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Department, Shri Samdup Lepcha, Director General of Police, Shri Akshay Sachdeva, distinguished officials, school children, persons with disabilities and their guardians.
