Pi Day Report – Celebrating Mathematics and Curiosity

Namchi, 28 April : On the occasion of Pi Day, celebrated annually on March 14th to honour the mathematical constant π (pi), a series of engaging and educational activities were organized at Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, Chisopani. The celebration aimed to promote interest in mathematics and highlight the significance of pi in both academic and real-world contexts.
Students, faculty members, and staff participated enthusiastically in a variety of events, including a pi recitation contest, math-themed games, and creative projects. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate both their mathematical skills and creative thinking.
The pi recitation contest was particularly notable, with students competing to recall as many digits of pi as possible. In addition, a display of pi-inspired artwork and poetry reflected the creative intersection of math and art.
A pie-tasting session was also held to complement the theme, making the event both intellectually stimulating and enjoyable. The atmosphere on campus was festive and filled with curiosity and collaboration.
Photographs were taken during the celebration to capture the vibrant participation and document the creativity and enthusiasm of all involved.
