Press Release from the Office of the Press Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim
Information & Public Relations Department
Today marks a significant milestone in the governance journey of Sikkim under the visionary and people-centric leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang- Golay, with the formal inauguration of the Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre (SDAC) at Mangalbaria, under Rinchenpong Constituency in Soreng District.
The establishment of this Centre fulfils a long-standing aspiration of the people of Rinchenpong and Salghari-Zoom constituencies, an aspiration that has now become a reality under the proactive and responsive governance of the SKM government. This step is a clear reflection of the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s commitment to translating the hopes and needs of citizens into action, with particular focus on accessibility, efficiency, and inclusive development.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister has consistently paid attention to the voices of the people, addressing even their most localized and specific concerns with utmost sincerity. His governance model emphasizes empowerment from the grassroots level, where administrative ease and service accessibility are not just promises but practiced priorities.
Since assuming office, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay has tirelessly pursued reforms aimed at decentralizing administration and making governance truly participatory. The creation of Soreng and Gyalshing as new districts is a reflection of this goal, alongside the establishment of three new subdivisions Sang-Rabdang, Namthang, and Mangalbaria each intended to bring administration closer to the people and minimize the burden of long travel and bureaucratic delays.
The decision to create two new districts and three sub-divisions, a demand long-ignored and conveniently shelved by the previous government, stands today as a resounding testament to the Hon'ble Chief Minister's firm political will and courage. While many conselled against creation of new districts and sub-divisions citing financial burden, Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay chose the people's convenience, dignity, and development. It is this clear-eyed commitment to action over excuses that is redefining Sikkim’s administrative landscape for the better.
The Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre at Mangalbaria stands as more than just a physical infrastructure, it is a symbol of empowered governance. It will play a pivotal role in delivering timely government services, resolving public grievances efficiently, and enhancing the day-to-day lives of the residents. This Centre will enable citizens to carry out essential administrative tasks within their locality, fostering greater civic engagement and reducing dependency on distant district headquarters.
In line with the SKM government's people-first approach, this Centre is also a testament to the broader vision of equitable development, where no region or citizen is left behind. It represents a governance philosophy that is inclusive, empathetic, and resolutely focused on delivering results that matter.
Under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay, Sikkim is on a transformative path toward becoming a model state of good governance, one that prioritizes grassroots empowerment, efficient public service delivery, and dignified development for all its citizens.
