Soreng, April 30 (IPR): The Police Department of Soreng District hosted a Rural Sports Meet today at Chakung Ground as part of the celebrations marking 50 years of statehood.
The event featured a variety of traditional and modern sporting competitions, including tug of war, 100-meter races, cock fights, balloon fights, shot put, and marathons. The highlight of the day was a friendly football match between police teams representing Soreng and Nayabazar against Kaluk and Sombarey.
The event was graced with the presence of Mr Dhiraj Subedi (District Collector), who attended as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Mr DR Bista (ADC-I), Mr. Santosh Kumar Alley (ADC-II), Mr PK Subba (SDM HQ), Ms Sakchum Lepcha (SDM Soreng), Ms Mamita Gurung (Deputy Director, Sports), and other officials from the Police Department.
