Gangtok, 2nd May 2025 –
DIET Gangtok successfully completed a day - long program “POORNA AADAN” (Complete Acceptance) to observe 50 years of Statehood Celebration and to commemorate the state formation.
As part of the celebration, inter-school literary competitions, which included extempore, poetry recitation and poster making on the theme of ‘Sunaulo Samriddha ani Samarth Sikkim’ were organised in the first half of the day by the Students Council of the institute. 11 schools from in and around Gangtok participated in the same.
The Literary competition was co-ordinated by the student trainees and judged by Ms Karma Doma Kaleon and Ms. Durga Shrestha while Poster Making was judged by Ms. Tashi Doma Acushla and Ms. Manju Chettri, Senior Lecturers of DIET.
The winners of the literary competition under 3 categories are as follows:

In the second half of the day, the Valedictory program was graced by Smt. Kala Rai, Hon’ble MLA cum Advisor RDD as Chief Guest. Sri. Tenzing Loden Lepcha, Sr. Superintendent of Police, IPS, Gangtok District also graced the program as Guest of Honour cum Key Note Speaker. Other guests who attended the program were Ms. Tshering Lhamu Bhutia, Additional Director, and Dr. Shantiram Adhikari, Associate Professor, SCERT, Dr. Chewang Dorji Lama, Principal and Dr. Dilip Pandey, Dean, Law College, HM and staff of GJHS, Lower Burtuk, President and members of Alumni Association.
Hon’ble Madam Kala Rai in her address shared her life experiences and struggle and motivated students’ participants never give up hope and keep on striving towards success. She emphasized that success requires dedication, perseverance, and sincerity, and it's not built overnight. She also raised the burning social issues and informed everyone to be cautious and be a responsible member of society. Madam also shared the cleanliness drive initiated under her constituency and urged everyone to joins hands. She also congratulated the institute for providing a platform to the school students to work towards making our Sikkim Sunoulo, Samriddhi ani Samarth Sikkim as envisioned by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sri. Prem Singh Tamang.
Sri. Tenzing L Lepcha, IPS shared inspiring words of wisdom with students motivating them to work towards their goals. He conducted an interactive session, allowing students to ask questions and engage with him directly. Students asked questions about civil service preparation, and Sri. Lepcha provided guidance and insights. He emphasized that success can be achieved when one is happy and fulfilled, suggesting a positive approach to goal-achievements.
The welcome cum opening speech was delivered by Mr. Tshering Wangdi Bhutia, Principal DIET, in his address shared the objective of observing the 50 years of statehood to instils amongst the younger generation, an appreciation about our state’s history, significance and contributions and also to develop the competitive spirit. He also mentioned that the program has provided platform for the student trainees an opportunity to hone their 21st Century skills of collaboration, communication and organization of such event. Mr. Bhutia acknowledged Hon’ble Madam for her leadership, inspiring, and influencing people through action.
Certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners and certificates to the Escort teachers of participating schools by the Chief Guest and Special Guest. The program also witnessed the launching of new website and DIET Buzz magazine.
The program also included the cultural performances by student trainees, students of GJHS, Lower Burtuk (Lab School) and Sikkim Govt. Law College.
The valedictory program was coordinated by Ms. Dikila Dolkar, Lecturer and vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Durga Shrestha Sr. Lecturer.
