Food and Civil Supplies Department, Soreng District conducts 'One Day at School' programme at Government Senior Secondary School Mangalbarey
Soreng, May 3: The Food and Civil Supplies Department, Soreng District, actively participated in the ‘One Day at School’ programme at Government Senior Secondary School Mangalbarey, organised by the District Administrative Centre, Soreng. The event, aimed at fostering awareness among students, saw a significant turnout, including pupils from classes VI to XII, alongside the principal, teaching staff, and non-teaching personnel.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech delivered by Mr CM Limboo, Inspector of Kaluk Food Godown. This was followed by a detailed presentation from Mr Dushyant Dhital, Assistant Director, who elaborated on the public distribution system (NFSA 2013) and various schemes under the act, highlighting the importance of fortified rice and its nutritional benefits.
Ms Sapna Tamang, Inspector of the Legal Metrology Unit, then addressed the gathering, emphasising consumer awareness and key provisions under the Legal Metrology Act 2009. She also provided guidance on avoiding packaged items lacking proper labelling and regulatory compliance.
Concluding the session, Mr Jas Man Subba, District Civil Supplies Officer, summarised the key discussions, stressing the significance of eKYC and various provisions under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The event successfully engaged students in crucial aspects of food security, consumer rights, and public distribution policies, fostering informed decision-making among future generations.
