Gangtok District Police Organises Futsal Tournament to Celebrate 50 Years of Sikkim’s Statehood

As part of the ongoing celebrations commemorating 50 Years of Sikkim’s Statehood, Gangtok District Police successfully organised a one-day Futsal Tournament on 3rd May 2025 at the GMC Indoor Futsal Arena, Gangtok. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic
participation from six teams representing all Police Stations under Gangtok District—Sadar, Ranipool, Singtam, Sherathang, Kupup—and the Gangtok Traffic Branch.
The final match saw an exciting contest between Sadar Police Station and Traffic Branch, with Sadar Police Station emerging as the champions of the tournament.
Shri Tashi Wangyal Bhutia, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the finals and awarded the winning and runner-up teams.
The event aimed to foster team spirit, physical fitness, and camaraderie among police personnel while commemorating this historic milestone in Sikkim’s journey as a state of the Indian Union.
