Gangtok,4th May:Cooperative Cycling Event Held Under the Aegis of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025
As part of the global celebrations for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, a vibrant cycling event was organized on 4th May 2025 by the Gangtok District office, Department of Cooperation, Government of Sikkim to promote the spirit of cooperation and community wellness. The event was flagged off by the Secretary of the Department of Cooperation, Government of Sikkim Madam Gloria Namchu from the District Office, Sichey in the august presence of PRCS Smt Jabi Thapa and Chairman sir of SICUN Shri Mangal Jit Rai ,marking the beginning of an inspiring ride from Sichey to Ganesh Tok.
Participants, clad in specially designed jerseys featuring the IYC 2025 logo, showcased unity and enthusiasm throughout the event. Among the cyclists was the youngest participant, just 12 years old, demonstrating that the cooperative spirit knows no age.
At the conclusion of the ride, certificates were distributed by the Additional Registrar-Gangtok and Senior AO Gangtok, in recognition of the participants' efforts and enthusiasm. The event was further graced by the presence of ARCS, CI, ACI, and other dignitaries, adding significance to the occasion.
This cycling event not only celebrated the values and achievements of the global cooperative movement but also encouraged healthy living and environmental responsibility—perfectly aligning with the broader goals of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
