Gyalshing, May 6 (IPR): The District Collector, Gyalshing Mr. Tenzing D. Denzongpa, chaired the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Governing Board meeting to review the activities under Gyalshing District at the conference hall of the District Administration Centre (DAC) today.
ATMA is an autonomous society of key stakeholders involved in agricultural activities for sustainable development. ATMA also provides training facilities and technology dissemination at the district level to progressive farmers.
At the onset, Additional Director, Horticulture & Agriculture, Mr. Karma Sherpa, gave a brief overview of ATMA, discussing the objectives and facilities of the society.
Similarly, Deputy Director, Agriculture, Dr. Karma Chewang Bhutia presented an annual progress report for ATMA. He discussed the various extensive services provided to the farmers under the flagship of different programmes, including Skill Training of Rural uth (STRY) and Farmers-Scientist teraction (FSI), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He also mentioned various activities and gave suggestions to provide support to the farmers for economic growth.
During the meeting, DC Gyalshing assured the extent of support for society and recommended ideas to uplift the farmer community. He also suggested to constitute a committee from various department for conversion of barren lands for cultivation under gyalshing district.
In addition, various queries on organic farming and technology were discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the KVK and Senior Scientist, Mr. Bishon Pradhan, Deputy Director Fisheries Department, Mr. Duchen Lepcha, Deputy Director AH & VS, Dr. Pramada Gurung, Deputy Director Horticulture, Ms. Penzomla Bhutia, Block Technology Managers, Assistant Technology Managers under ATMA Gyalshing along with the progressive farmers.
