One Day at School conducted by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) at Deythang Secondary School.
Soreng, May 6: The "One Day at School" program, an initiative by the District Administration Centre, Soreng District to commemorate Sikkim's 50 years of Statehood was successfully conducted at Government Secondary School, Deythang by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate-cum-Chairman DDMA, Mr. Dhiraj Subedi.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Sapan Rai Data Entry Operator (DDMA Soreng). Mr. Nirmal Chettri (Headmaster) extended his greetings by offering traditional scarves to DPO (Disaster), Panchayat representative Mr. Bhim Kumar Sharma of Deythang, and the esteemed guests who had gathered to witness the event.
The day's activities focused on enhancing disaster preparedness and safety awareness. The key sessions included:
1. Presentation on safety kits and the School Disaster Management Plan (SDMP) by DPO Rajani Pega.
2. Demonstrations on emergency response techniques.
3. A mock exercise led by Mr. Kishore Pradhan, DMC (DDMA), along with DDMA staff.
The program witnessed active participation from the staff members of Deythang School and residents from the surrounding areas. A special demonstration on the "Drop, Cover, and Hold" technique was conducted, engaging students of classes IX and X to reinforce earthquake preparedness.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Headmaster of GSS Deythang, Mr. Nirmal Chettri, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and officials.
