72nd Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal, Yuksum organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the famous Sang Ngag Choeling Monastery, Pelling under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” Campaign,today.
The place is very popular among tourists from India and abroad because of the 137 feet high Chenrezig statue (the Bodhisattva of compassion in Buddhism) and India's first glass skywalk. Force personnel and local citizens actively participated in this programme. Everyone cleaned the monastery premises and the surrounding tourist area and also gave a message of public awareness towards cleanliness. This work was highly appreciated by the local people and tourists and their gratitude was expressed towards the Border Security Force. This event strengthens the spirit of "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" and shows the commitment of the force towards environmental protection.
