Gangtok, July 19:
The Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) is honoured to share that today, a special meeting was held with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, who also serves as the Chief Patron of BAS, to present a detailed report on the recently concluded District-Level Tournaments for the 1st Sikkim State Inter-School Badminton Championship 2025.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Minister was apprised of the resounding success of the district rounds, held across all six districts of Sikkim, witnessing participation from over 300 schools. The BAS delegation acknowledged the commendable support extended by all District Badminton Associations, whose efforts were instrumental in the seamless and impactful execution of this first-of-its-kind state-level school championship.
In a significant gesture of encouragement, the Hon’ble Chief Minister:-
1.Commended BAS for its dedication and grassroots-level outreach to promote badminton among students.
2.Confirmed his gracious presence as the Chief Guest for the Finals of the 1st Inter-School Championship, to be held on 12th August 2025 at Gangtok.
3.Directed BAS to organize an Inter-Departmental Badminton Team Championship, encouraging wider participation, stakeholder engagement, and promotion of badminton among professionals and government personnel.
4.Officially unveiled the poster for the upcoming Late Kuldeep Gurung State Junior & Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Championship 2025, scheduled from 26th to 28th July 2025.
The Badminton Association of Sikkim extends its deepest gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for his unwavering support, guidance, and personal involvement in strengthening the badminton ecosystem in the state.
This continued support reaffirms our collective commitment to making Sikkim a hub for badminton excellence and encouraging the sporting spirit among our youth and public service institutions alike.
