Gyalshing,December 12:The Pedagogical Exchange Workshop between the Singapore Teacher Trainees and the Pre-service and in- service teachers of Gyalshing was successfully organised today by the Khangchendzonga Conservation Committee, in partnership with NIA Singapore and DIET Gyalshing. The programme served as a platform for cross-cultural learning, educational dialogue, and the sharing of innovative teaching practices.
The workshop had the presence of Chief Education Officer(CEO), District Education Office, Gyalshing, Mr Pema G Bhutia, as the Chief Guest;Ms Tshering Uden Bhutia, President of the Khangchendzonga Conservation Committee, as the Special Guest along with her team;Principal, DIET, Gyalshing Ms Parumita Rai;Faculty members, DIET, Gyalshing; in-service teachers of surrounding schools and the teacher trainees of NIE, Singapore and teacher trainees of DIET, Gyalshing.
The inaugural session began with the offering of khadas to all the esteemed guests and a welcome note by the Principal, DIET, Gyalshing.
The Chief guest shared insightful remarks highlighting the value of international collaboration and the need for evolving pedagogical approaches in modern classrooms.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Lecturer, DIET, Gyalshing Mr Dheeraj Chettri, whose guidance ensured smooth execution across all sessions. The workshop saw active participation from DIET trainees, faculty members, and in-service teachers, reflecting a vibrant and enthusiastic learning community.
To facilitate deeper interaction and focused discussions, participants were divided into four venues, each aligned with a specific thematic area. The key themes of the workshop were:
1. Student Engagement – exploring strategies to inspire active involvement and curiosity in learners.
2. Collaborative Learning – understanding group-based pedagogies that foster teamwork and peer support.
3. Positive Classroom Culture – promoting inclusive, safe, and motivating learning environments.
4. Gamification– integrating game-based elements to enhance motivation, creativity, and concept retention.
Throughout the sessions, Singapore teacher trainees shared practical demonstrations, innovative tools, and reflective insights from their training experiences. The Pre service  and inservice teachers of Geyzing, in turn, contributed contextual understanding and classroom realities, making the exchange meaningful and grounded.
The workshop concluded with a collective reflection, emphasizing that such international exchanges enrich the professional capabilities of teachers and strengthen the global educational ties. The event was widely appreciated for its relevance, organization, and interactive approach.
