The 1st Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub (AWaDH) Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab in Northeast India was inaugurated on 27th November 2024 at Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT), Chisopani, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Ropar.
This historic event, first of its kind in the state of Sikkim, featured meetings with the IIT team and invited dignitaries including Director of Skill Development, Chief Education Officer(CEO) of Soreng and Namchi, General Manager(GM), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Block Development Officer (BDO), Jorethang, inauguration and tour of CPS lab and discussions on advancing CPS technology, possible future collaboration and innovation.
Highlights included presentations by Dr. Radhika Tirkha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation, certificate distribution for CPS trainees among faculty, the launch of "Nexus" newsletter by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, CCCT and prize distribution for a recently conducted short film contest among students by Information and Public Relations(IPR)-Editorial Cell, CCCT.
Addresses by BSNL GM and Director, Skill Development emphasized the lab's impact on connectivity and skill-building.
Traditional felicitation including giving momentos and Thangka painting to esteemed guests and a lunch concluded the milestone event.
