Dated 30.03 .2024:Rajasthan State Foundation Day was celebrated with grandeur at Raj Bhavan, Gangtok today. Under the initiative taken by the Government of India to reinforce the unity and integrity of our nation, the rich tapestry of unity in diversity was celebrated, marking the observance of Rajasthan State Day. The Secretary Raj Bhavan, Shri JD Bhutia graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The program commenced with a welcome address by PRO Raj Bhavan, Smt Mamta Awasthy. During this session, a poignant video message from the Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalraj Mishra, was broadcast, and another video showcasing Rajasthan's tourism was also played for the benefit of the audience. The Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan highlighted the vibrant culture and history of Rajasthan along with the varied resources of Rajasthan.
A cultural program was showcased by talented artists of Raj Bhavan and ITBP Jawans, winning hearts and creating an atmosphere of celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Raj Bhavan, Shri JD Bhutia, thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for initiating the celebration of "statehood day" of every state in each state, further enhancing unity in diversity. He emphasized the brotherly bond between the people of Rajasthan and Sikkim. He also spotlighted Rajasthan's geography, being India's largest state, and emphasized the vital role of agriculture & tourism in the lives of Rajasthan's people. He noted the longstanding relationship between Sikkim and Rajasthan, spanning over 200 years, and highlighted the contribution of Rajasthan's people to Sikkim's economy principally through trade and business.
Noting Rajasthan's status as one of the India's top tourist destinations, boasting numerous palaces, cultural heritage, and beautiful lakes. He highlighted Rajasthan as home to India’s largest desert, the "Thar” desert. He highlighted the rich attire and renowned customs and traditions of Rajasthan and urged everyone to visit Rajasthan.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Deputy Secretary, Raj Bhavan, Shri Diwas Gautam.
