Shri Sonam Lama, Hon’ble Minister for Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, and Ecclesiastical Department, called on the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan today.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Minister warmly congratulated the Hon’ble Governor on the successful and proud accomplishment of “Operation Sindoor,” recently conducted by the Indian defence fraternity. He acknowledged the operation as a matter of great national pride and lauded the exemplary efforts of the armed forces. In response, the Hon’ble Governor expressed happiness over the success of the operation and extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the people of Sikkim on this significant achievement.
The Hon’ble Minister also highlighted the historical and political significance of the Tripartite Agreement, signed on May 8, 1973, marking a pivotal moment in Sikkim’s history. He extended his greetings to the Hon’ble Governor on the occasion.
As the state celebrates its golden jubilee, the Hon’ble Governor said “Today, five decades on, the state stands tall as India’s first fully organic state and a torchbearer in education, women’s empowerment, and sustainable tourism,” and further conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim, acknowledging the enduring legacy of the day.
